Leanne Downie

Physiotherapist

Post Graduate Diploma of Neurological Rehabilitation. Masters of Physiotherapy. Bachelor of Human Movement Studies.

Born and bred in Hobart, Leanne has returned home after 22 years of living in Perth, Sydney and in the USA. Like many of us she has been lured by the wilderness and beauty of Tasmania with the added bonus returning to family.

Leanne’s academic career started with Exercise Physiology, adding Physiotherapy to her resume in 2004 in Perth, WA. After working in hospital and rehabilitation settings Leanne completed further studies in neurology and focused her work on acute care and rehabilitation of people with stroke and Parkinson’s disease.  With years spent in hospitals, aged care facilities, rehabilitation centres, community care and private practice, Leanne has diverse knowledge and skill sets. She completed her Polestar Pilates training in 2020 and has really enjoyed seeing the added benefits of applying these movement principals in a neurological setting.

Outside of work Leanne’s interests include anything water oriented; swimming, the beach, diving, fishing, boating and underwater hockey.  And now, indulging in the Tasmanian wilderness and being with family.
